DJUPET

At the intersection of contemporary and traditional folk dance practices, DJUPET provides the Norwegian cultural heritage with an understanding that belongs in today’s world. The choreography offers a delicate balance between the multidimensional abstraction of contemporary dance and Norwegian folk tradition’s straightforwardness. Embodying these distinct strengths, DJUPET embarks on a hypnotic journey to experience the old Norwegian tradition through an arcana of sound and motion.

Ådne Kolbjørnsrud, Ida Wigdel and Katja Schia share the stage with two of Norway’s most skilled musicians. Jo Berger Myhre and Erlend Viken excel in exploring the common cycling patterns between Norwegian musical traditions and electronic dance music.

Djupet premiered at Ultima, Riksscenen (NO) in 2020.
